Lex Malas
Managing Director, Head of Capital Markets Origination

Mr. Malas joined Broadpoint.Gleacher in 2008 as Head of Debt Capital Markets Origination. Prior to joining Broadpoint, Mr. Malas was at Deutsche Bank, where he managed leveraged financings in the energy, power, healthcare, paper and packaging sectors. Mr. Malas was previously at UBS, where he joined in 2004 as a Managing Director in high yield capital markets, led high yield financings in energy, power, media, and telecom sectors. Mr. Malas started his career in 1988 within the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, where he ultimately was a Managing Director and Head of Natural Resources Capital Markets. Mr. Malas earned a BA from Johns Hopkins University in 1988 and his MBA from Harvard University in 1992.


Scott Coburn
Managing Director, Head of Equity Capital Markets Origination

Mr. Coburn joined Broadpoint.Gleacher in May 2003. Mr. Coburn is responsible for the management of the firm's equity underwriting and private placement business. Previously, Mr. Coburn was with the Citigroup, Global Capital Markets, and Institutional Investor Group. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Coburn was Head of Equity Capital Markets at PaineWebber, where he was responsible for the solicitation and execution of the firm's equity underwritings, amounting to $10 billion in total business, including approximately $1 billion in lead managed transactions. He was also a member of the firm's operating committee and was Co-Head of its equity commitment committee. Prior to his work at PaineWebber, Coburn spent more than 10 years at Smith Barney Inc., serving as a Managing Director within the firm's Equity Capital Markets division, where he managed the institutional executions of over 100 lead managed underwritings in multiple industries. Mr. Coburn has served as Chairman of the Securities Industry Association Syndicate Committee and was previously a board member of the Investment Association. He holds an MBA from Columbia University and an AB from Brown University.


Kevin Reynolds
Managing Director, Head of Debt Capital Markets Origination

Kevin Reynolds is a Managing Director at Broadpoint.Gleacher. Mr. Reynolds has more than 24 years experience in the financial services industry focused on Credit Research, Bankruptcy and Distressed Trading, Emerging Market Debt Capital Markets, and Corporate Asset Backed Securitizations. Prior to joining Broadpoint, Mr. Reynolds had spent 12 years at UBS in a number of senior roles. He ran the UBS Corporate ABS business where he structured and executed the first whole business securitization for a tender of a public company, NUCO2. He was also Global Co-Head of Liability Exchange offer and Corporate Recapitalizations. Under his management UBS executed well over 200 separate open market repurchases, wavier and consent solicitations, tenders, and exchanges in the US Domestic, European, and Emerging Markets. These recapitalizations included industries in High Yield and Investment Grade issuers. Most notably was the development of the private exchange for convertible instruments and UBS’ role as a lead in the Argentina debt exchange. Mr. Reynolds also has held senior management roles in emerging market debt capital markets and syndicate. During that time UBS was a significant presence in emerging market corporate debt issuance and was awarded IFR Deal of the Year for executions in Latin America, Emerging Europe and Asia. Mr. Reynolds spent the first half of his career in the investment banking industry in other senior positions in high yield credit research, bankruptcy and distressed credit trading, and inter-capital arbitrage. Mr. Reynolds earned a BA from Boston College in 1979 and his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1984.


David Lessen
Managing Director, Head of Convertibles Origination

David Lessen, Ph.D. is a Managing Director of the Broadpoint.Gleacher’s Capital Markets Origination Group. Dr. Lessen has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry and has focused on convertible bond and equity derivative origination, structured finance and corporate risk management. Prior to joining Broadpoint.Gleacher, Dr. Lessen spent 9 years at UBS Investment Bank where he was a Managing Director in the Global Healthcare Investment Banking Group and responsible for leading the Group’s convertible bond and equity derivatives origination activities. During his tenure, UBS was consistently at or near the top of the league tables for book managed Healthcare convertible bond business while book running more than 55 significant convertible bond transactions. His experience prior to convertible bond origination includes marketing, structuring, and trading roles in equity, interest rate, foreign exchange and insurance related derivatives at leading firms, including UBS, JP Morgan, and Goldman Sachs. Dr. Lessen earned BS, MEng, and MBA degrees from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.


Len Sheer
Managing Director

Len Sheer is a Managing Director at Broadpoint.Gleacher. Mr. Sheer has more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. His background includes liability management, private placements of debt and equity and domestic and international merger and acquisition advisory roles in a wide variety of industries. Prior to joining Broadpoint, Mr. Sheer was a Senior Analyst at Pardus Capital, a hedge fund based in NYC focused on investing in debt and equity. He was a Vice President at Lehman Brothers, focusing on M&A advisory assignments. In addition, Mr. Sheer held positions in the Merchant Banking Group at the Bank of New York and Fieldstone Private Capital Group, an international investment banking boutique. Mr. Sheer earned his BS in Finance and Economics from Babson College in 1996.


Jason Partenza
Director

Mr. Partenza has approximately ten years of experience in Investment Banking and Capital Markets. Since joining Broadpoint.Gleacher in 2002, Mr. Partenza has worked on more than 80 financings raising more than $10 billion in gross proceeds including public and private equity and debt capital markets transactions. His experience covers various sectors including Energy, Healthcare, Industrials and Technology, amongst others. Mr. Partenza was also a member of the execution teams on significant corporate transactions at Broadpoint.Gleacher including the recapitalization in 2007, the private financings and the acquisition of American Technology Research in 2008, the acquisition of Gleacher Parnters and the $169 million equity offering for Broadpoint.Gleacher in 2009. Prior to Broadpoint.Gleacher, Mr. Partenza was a member of the Investment Banking group at Robertson Stephens, a prominent growth focused investment bank, where he was a member of the health care and communications teams. Mr. Partenza graduated from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business with a BS in Finance.
