Mr. Payne is a Managing Director of Gleacher & Company and former Vice Chairman of Gleacher Partners. Prior to joining Gleacher Partners he served as Vice Chairman of Bank of America and WebMD. Mr. Payne was responsible for leading the Olympic bid effort for Atlanta as President of the Committee responsible for winning the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and was the first person in modern Olympic history to continue uninterrupted as President of the Organizing Committee for the Games themselves. Mr. Payne serves on the boards of Lincoln Financial Group and Cousins Properties as well as numerous nonprofit community foundations and organizations. He holds an undergraduate and a law degree from the University of Georgia.
